    What are normal work hours?

    Normal branch hours are from 7:00 or 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This may vary based on customer and branch needs – Check with your supervisor. Drivers’ work hours are scheduled by the Operations Manager at each branch and will vary depending on need.

    The Lynchburg home office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Specific work hours and lunch times are scheduled through supervisors.

    When do we get paid?

    Payday for salaried employees is on the last workday of each month. Hourly employees are paid bi-weekly (every other Friday).

    Do you have direct deposit of paychecks?

    Direct deposit is a benefit that NBH provides and strongly encourages employees to use. Both payroll disbursements and expense reimbursements are efficiently deposited into any bank checking or saving account once the appropriate information has been provided to payroll.

    Who do I call if I'm going to be out sick or late to work?

    Employees are expected to call in and notify their supervisor if they are unable to report to work. Employees who are absent for 3 days without proper notification will be considered to have voluntarily quit. Tardiness and absenteeism may be used in performance evaluations.

    When will my benefits become effective?

    Health insurance benefits take effect two months after your date of hire. You become eligible to enroll in the 401(k) plan after 90 days of employment. Sick and vacation benefits are effective after six months of employment.

    How do I find out my doctors is in the medical plan?

    Health insurance is provided through Anthem. You can find out who is in their doctor network on their website: www.anthem.com

    When can I change who is on my health insurance?

    If you want to add or remove a qualifying family member on your health insurance coverage, you can do so at any time if it meets the definition of a qualifying event; otherwise you must wait until the next open enrollment period.

    How can I change my 401(k) contribution level?

    Salary deferral changes to 401(k) contribution should be made via the UltiPro HR System. Changes will be effective on the 1st of the following month. Distribution of your contribution into the available funds can be changed on the MassMutual website whenever you choose. www.retirement.massmutual.com/rscorp.

    How can I see a job description for my job?

    Job descriptions should exist for all positions. They are kept on file in each location as well as in Human Resources. If you would like to see the description for your position, ask your manager or supervisor.

    Is there a dress code?

    N.B. Handy employees are excellent providers of customer service and therefore maintain an excellent public image. Each employee should present a positive, professional image through a neat and clean appearance. For warehouse employees and drivers, NBH has a shared-cost uniform program. All other employees should dress in business casual attire. Refer to your supervisor if you have any questions.

    What should I do in case of bad wheater?

    It is the intent of NBH to attempt to remain open regardless of weather conditions as long as the operation can be run safely. In cases of bad weather, NBH will continue their operations, and will make every effort to make each location operational during normal work hours. Employees unable to report to work should notify their supervisor as soon as possible. In rare situations where a facility is officially closed, managers will notify their employees. Refer to the Weather Policy for details.

    How is general information about the company communicated?

    N.B. Handy strives to keep employees fully informed and make information easily accessible. A company newsletter (The Coil Line) is issued quarterly and several ‘State of the Company’ meetings are held throughout the year.
